This morning we leave
Kaua'i bound for the Eastern coast of the Big island. Once in Hilo, we pick-up our rental car and drive straight to
volcanoes national park where our hotel is located.
We just take the time to change clothes and start our discovering of the volcanic landscapes via the Chain of craters road. On each side of the road
lava flows, sulfur emanations, lunar landscapes, craters... very impressive!
The road is cut around mile 21 by a 2003 lava flow. From here we can park the car and drive some 4 miles to reach the current lava flow which runs on the slope of the volcano before falling into the ocean.
